I’m really sick of the Internet Movie Database right now. They hacked my Jungle Book review to pieces, and now I’ve got some dum-dum sending me messages telling me how stupid I am for not liking Police Academy. How I can be stupid for not liking the least intelligent movie ever made is bizarre, but this guy’s a twat anyway so he’s not close friends with logic. He said my review was nothing but an insult, as if that’s some insight – it was meant to be an insult cuz I think the movie’s a piece of shit! He’s the kind of moron who always seems to be at the database – the concept of subjectivity seems to have passed him by completely. It’s just so irritating. If he’d countered some of the points I’d made, or explained some plot-holes that I’d misunderstood it’d be fine, but instead it’s just the same old “you said this film wasn’t funny, but actually it is.” I’m sick of the idiots who think you’re passing opinion off as fact, or other idiots who spend half their reviews saying “in my humble opinion...” The point of a review is it’s your opinion amongst a million other opinions, and none of them are right because opinion is subjective – everyone knows that except the idiots who feel the need to moan at me for not liking their favourite movie! And a while I go I had another database moron telling me I hated old movies because he’d read a review where I said The Invisible Man wasn’t great, even though I’ve reviewed films from the same era that I love. Then he started rambling on about it being a shame I wasn’t born in the thirties and forties, because then I’d be able to appreciate films a little better. And this guy was only 38, the moron! I just hate bad arguers! These idiots who say things like “The only reason you don’t like this movie is cuz you’re a fag”, or “you said this movie’s crap but it’s not.” There’s just no arguing with them, because every bit of logic you throw at them gets nothing in return but “you’re wrong because I like this movie a lot and it’s good and stuff.” They give opinionated ranters a bad name, dammit!
